The Medieval Warm Period started in 950 and ended around 1250, but some people say that it didn't happen at all.
It could have started for a number of reasons. The most likely reason is that is was warm in a different location and it moved on over to Europe after. Other reasons are solar activity, a decrease in volcanic activity, or a change to the ocean's circulation.
The Medieval Warm Period effected a number of countries all over the world. It was said to be a widespread global event.

They were effected by the Warm Period with prolonged droughts. The droughts impacted settlements there.
Europe was effected in a more beneficial way with grain crops flourishing and tree lines rising. New cities also came up due to the Warm Period and doubled up the population.
Due to the Warm Period, Greenland had climatic amelioration and the Vikings colonized because of it. the Vikings got more favorable open-ocean conditions with it and good better navigate and fish.
There was a cold period after the Medieval Warm Age that was known as the Little Ice Age. It ended in the middle to late nineteenth century.
The Warm Period was said to be global, and it was. Though it wasn't synchronously global and places warmed up at different periods of time.
The temperatures that were recorded during the period were about the same as recorded in the nineteenth century.
