Released in 1990, this 40 minute long album is one the best metal albums I've ever listened to. The thrashy, fast paced instrumentals, combined with Mustaine's surprising vocals make this album a blast to listen to. Even though it's on the shorter side, being around 40 minutes and nine tracks, I think that's honestly one of it's strenghts, it doesn't overstay it's welcome. The album uses grungy and more experimental sounds like in the tracks, "Dawn Patrol" and "Poison was the Cure" along with a classic speed metal sound like in "Tornado of Souls" and "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due".

Released in 1993 as TOOL's debut album they use experimental and grungy guitar along with harsh baselines in order to create something one of a kind. This along with James Maynard's stellar vocals creates a sound that can not be used to describe any other band. This album sets the tone for TOOL's later albums but also is the most enjoyable. While it isn't perfect, the highs are some of my favorite songs TOOL has ever made. From songs like "Intolerance" to songs like "Swamp Song", TOOL uses exceptional use of mechanical metally sounds, while still being a joy to listen to.
