Definition
- EEG is an electrophysiological monitioring method to record electrical activity of the brain
Definition
Procedures used in this method of studying the brain
Procedures
- During the procedure, electrodes consisting of small metal disks with thin wires are pasted onto your scalp.
- The electrodes detect tiny electrical charges that result from the activity of your brain cells.
- The charges are amplified and appear as a graph on a computer screen or as a recording that may be printed out on paper. Your health care provider interprets the reading.

Positive Outcomes
Outcomes
- the ability to see brain activity as it unfolds in real time at the level of milliseconds.
- can be used to help determine issues in the brain.
- can detect abnormal brain waves after a head injury, stroke, or a brain tumor.
- can be used to determine brain death.
Negative or Ethical Issues of Procedure
- No risks to the test, completely safe and painless
Ethical Issues
Future Research of this Method
Future
- The extension of existing EEG evidence in the context of sports expertise to real world sports environment, such as using EEG to complement evaluations of optimal performance, expertise level, skill development, the effectiveness of training regiments, or even talent identification in sports
