Persian culture
The culture of ancient Persia flourished between the reign of Cyrus II (the Great, who reigned c. 550-530 B.C.), the founder of the Persian Achaemenid Empire, and the fall of the Sassanid Empire in A.D. 651. Even so, the foundations of Persian culture had already been laid before the third millennium BC.
When Aryan (Indo-Iranian) tribes migrated to the region of present-day Iran, it was renamed Ariana or Iran: Land of the Aryans. The Persians were just one of the tribes that inhabited the territory of Persis (or Parsa, today Fars), which would give them their name.
