How artists and designers use 2D materials, processes and techniques
You will investigate at least one artist or designer each week related to each of the themes (Cityscapes; Abstraction; Still Life; The Figure; Landscape). You will make notes on the media they use; the style they work in; find out if they are linked to an art movement such as Pop Art or Expressionism; the ideas they are interested in and any relevant contextual information (use the Context presentation on Learnzone to help you). Notes should be your own words – copied & pasted is plagiarism and will be awarded no marks. You will also produce a set of small visual studies of details from their work. You should use similar media to the artist/designer to explore their use of media, processes and techniques.
Learners produce annotated studies into a broad range of 2D artists and/or designers investigating how they:
(a) respond to subjects, themes, issues (b) relate to movements, styles (c) reflect/respond to events, trends (d) use 2D media, materials and techniques
