The system of education

in Poland

It includes public and non-public kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools, post-secondary schools, art schools and other special schools and educational, tutoring and care establishments. The education system does not cover colleges (universities).

Pre-school education is optional for

children aged 3-4 years, but compulsory

for 5-year-olds.

Education in primary school is free of charge for all pupils and the only requirement for admission is the age of a child. All children aged 6 are required to start primary school.

Junior high school

Pupils are admitted to junior high school on the basis of a primary school leaving certificate. Currently, in junior high school are pupils aged 13-16.

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Secondary school

In these schools are attended of young people aged 16-19/20. Admission to this school depends on the number of points indicated on the junior high school leaving certificate.

Grading scale

The mark/grade is set by the teacher the basis of regular

written and oral tests, homework or semester work.

The mark/grade from educational classes are set in degrees according to the following scale:

perfect - 6,

very good - 5,

good - 4,

satisfactory - 3,

acceptable - 2,

insufficient - 1.

Yearly classification ratings of behavior: exemplary,

very good, good, correct, inadequate and reprehensible.

The school year comprises around 180 days,

from September to June, and is divided into two semesters.

Lessons are held five times a week, Monday through Friday and lasts

45 minutes. The start of the next lesson must be preceded by a pause.

The school offers education in the following professions:

 economic technician, specialities:

- insurance

- finance and accounting

- banking

- small business

 IT technician, specialities:

- computer graphics

- WWW design

 tourist service technician, speciality:

- organising and servicing congresses and conferences

 advertising organisation technician

The school of economics in Poznan also offers additional qualification courses and post-secondary school.

In the building are available computer classrooms with Internet access, interactive boards, a computerised library,

a hall, a common room and a shop.The school can also boast about multi-purpose sports courts and a gym with a fitness room.

Education in this school takes four years and in the last class, students take two examinations: the matriculation examinations (in May) and the vocational qualification examination (in June).
