Granada

The Kingdom of Granada was a territorial jurisdiction or province of the Crown of Castile from its reconquest in 1492 until the territorial division of Spain in 1833. The localities that composed it according to the Ensenada Cadastre can be seen in the Annex Localities of the Kingdom of Granada

History

After the end of the War of Granada on January 2, 1492, the old Nasrid Kingdom of Granada became part of the Crown of Castile. Its symbol, the fruit of the pomegranate, was incorporated into the coat of arms of the Catholic Monarchy and continues to figure on the coat of arms of Spain today. The city would enter a long decline due to the loss of its political and economic role, since the discovery of America would be the impetus for Seville

Was born in 1035, by the union of the counties of Aragon, Sobrarbe and Ribagorza in the figure of Ramiro I. The kingdom expanded southward and was the basis of the later Crown of Aragon. By the union of the Catholic Kings joined the Crown of Castile in the fifteenth century, forming the Spanish Monarchy.
