This era was a time of change in storytelling, narratives etc. It was a separation to the traditional films. Directors associated with the New Hollywood change included Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Some films from this era include "The Godfather" (1972) and "Jaws" (1975). The New Hollywood era was characterised by its willingness to confront social issues and uses contrasting storytelling techniques.

The Silent Era during the late 19th century to the early 1930’s was a period in the history of cinematography where there was an absence of synchronised sound in films. Producers relied on visual storytelling, expressions and live musicals to convey the narratives without dialogue being heard from the audience.
