History of Pumice
ELEMENTS
- Pumice is formed when lava containing high levels of water and gases erupts from a volcano
- Pumice is a igneous rock formed when molten rock (magma) cools and solidifies
- Is formed when hot lava mixes with water, cools rapidly and depressurization creates bubbles by lowering the boiling point of the lava.
- The cooling of the rock below melting point produces a solid.
- Sodium Fluoride (NaF): Ionic bond, reaction between a
metal and non-metal
- Glycerin: thick colorless liquid, sweet taste
- Quartz- made up of Silicon (Si) & Oxygen (O)
covalent bond-sharing of electrons between two non-metals
- Sodium Silicate-(Na2SiO3) AkA "water glass" or "liquid glass"
