The Act set out how land could be designated as national parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Nature Reserves and Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

What are National Parks protected from?

What is used to protect National parks?

A. Environment and cultural legacy faces new challenges ranging from natural disasters, to a changing climate, to archaeological treasures being damaged or stolen.

We need stronger national environment laws to protect our national parks from destructive activities like logging, mining, grazing and shooting.

Our national parks are places for the whole community to enjoy; they should not be handed over to commercial interests for profit making.

The Commonwealth environmental laws were adopted for a reason: State governments and private businesses have proven unreliable in protecting the natural environment.

Since National Parks are so large, there are no barriers to protect them. Instead there are various laws that are used to keep them safe. The 1949 countryside act is one such thing used to look after the National Parks.

How much does it cost to protect National Parks?

Its difficult of answer this question since lots of people and organizations help to look after them but the overall figure runs into many of millions of pounds a year.
