The sustainable management of the marine resources in Northern Mindanao.
MISSION
To be a center of excellence for marine science research in Northern Mindanao, Philippines dedicated to the sustainable development of the coastal community and the environment
GOALS
- Provide socially significant programs and activities benefitting the local community and the immediate environment;
- Conduct management and conservation activities in the coastal areas in the region addressing contemporary problems and issues on the marine environment & related ecosystems
- Build-up the capability of the community through participatory activities involving the locals and the different multi-stakeholders
- Provide competent and dedicated research staff engaged in excellent research and;
- Aid academic units in forming competent and skillful students conscientious to the needs of the community and the environment
Macajalar Bay Development Alliance (MBDA)
To bring together all different stakeholders in the maritime corridor to come up with an integrated coastal management plan for the entire corridor using the data gathered from the corollary baseline profiling.

XU MARINE STATION/
ACTIVITY CENTER
The XU Marine Station /Activity Center is a property of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, managed by the McKeough Marine Center
- is located in Sitio Cabulawan, Solana, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental
- It is equipped with event facilities ideal for seminars, trainings, workshops, and recollections.
Programs and Projects
OBJECTIVE
To determine the extent of impacts of sedimentation from upland on the marine ecosystems and resources of Macajalar Bay
MAIN ACTIVITIES
4. Measurement of influence of other environmental
variables on the sedimentation processes
5. Management Implications
6. Education/IEC
7. Policies Advocacy
1. Profiling of river catchment (CDO River Watershed,
CDO River, Macajalar Bay)
2. Determining connectivity of ridge, river, and bay in
terms of Sedimentation & other physicochemical
parameter)
3. Measurement of impacts of sediments & other
stressors on the river, bay, and their resources
OBJECTIVES
- To train NSTP students to teach marine conservation to primary and secondary schools in the city.
- Educating the public to spread awareness about marine environment conservation through the youth.
