Mitty writes a letter to his parents.
- Mitty cannot stop thinking about the idea that he has smallpox because he handled the scabs.
- He fears that he will infect those that he comes in contact with.
- He leaves his parents with the letter.
- The letter gives his parents the idea that Mitty needs to kill himself.
- Mitty writes in the letter how for the sake of his friends, family, and New York he must die.
Event 11
Mitty tries to devise a plan to escape where he is being held captive.
- Mitty slides his fingers down electrical wires and plumbing connections in order to find any objects he can use to escape.
- Finally, he locates a nail lightly tapped into the wood that he was able to pull out with his fingers.
- He later puts the nail in his pocket. so that he does not loose it.

Mitty decides to seek help from major hospitals and doctors who specialize in diseases.
Mitty finally is convinced that he has smallpox.
- Mitty gets major responses from those he emails.
- Some emails take interest in Mitty's situation while others say that it is unlikely he has the virus.
- Most emails say that MItty should go to a lab or hospital just to be safe.
- Mitty gets emails from major hospitals asking to buy the scabs also.
- Mitty believes that he is only days from dying.
- He becomes desperate and hopeless with his condition.
Event 10
Mitty is kidnapped one day after writing the letter to his parents.
Event 12
- On the way home from school Mitty is kidnapped by men who turn out to be terrorists.
- The terrorists put Mitty in a dark and cold area, which seems to be a basement.
- They feed him periodically with McDonalds, while Mitty belives his symptoms are getting worse.
Mitty puts his plan into action.
- When the terrorists that are holding Mitty captive
- bring his food, Mitty locks them downstairs with him.
- Mitty had been faking his disease.

Mitty finds books containing information about diseases in his country house.
Mitty breaks the boiler in order to relaese a deadly gas
- The books Mitty finds are over 100 years old.
- Mitty finds a book named Principles of Contagious Disease.
- While turning the pages, Mitty discovers an envelope.
- The envelope is labeled VM epidemic,1902 Boston.
- As the poisonous carbon monoxide seeps into the basement, Mitty starts to feel faint and passes out
Event 14
Mitty finally escapes the where he is being held captive.
- Mitty is dragged upstairs by more bioterrorists and locks the other two downstairs.
- Mitty is then taken to the hospital where he is treated for a broken jaw and poisoning.

Mitty begins writing his rough draft skipping his outline.
Mitty researches on the scabs and finds out that they are small pox.
Mitty opens the envelope which is filled with scabs.
- Mitty gets his information from the old books he found.
- Mitty forgets he has to read "Beowolf" a book for English.
- Mitty ends his work on his paper for the night by discussing the symptoms of smallpox.
- Mitty finds out that the disease was destroyed decades ago.
- Mitty went to the book store to purchase books for his topic.
- Mitty begins reading through his books.
- Mitty pours the scabs into his hands.
- Mitty sneezes and and crumbles the scabs in his hand.
- Mitty rubs his nose.
