READ

Literary items Pominent in the book:

The most Interesting Part of the book to me:

  • " As night fell, the promised storm blew up and around them. Spray from the high waves splattered the walls of the hut and a fierce wind rattled the filthy windows."

I would DEFINETLY recommend this book. This is one of the BEST books I have ever read. My Parents have already ordered the whole series for me because I am attached! I just couldn't stop reading the book, it has so much context and is the first book I've EVER read by myself at my house and truly enjoyed. It has so much action and keeps me reading until the very end.

  • "A giant of a man was standing in the doorway. His face was almost completely hidden by a long, shaggy mane of hair and a wild, tangled beard, but you can make out his eyes, glinting like black beetles under all the hair."

The most interesting part to me in this book is when Harry goes and tries to get the Sorcerer's Stone. Even whilst reading the book my heart was racing. It kept me reading and I loved how it kept me guessing on how it was going to end.

Both of these examples show how the author has shown great imagery.

SETTING

The setting of Harry Potter is in Hogwarts. I'd say more than half the book is in Hogwarts and Harry has just about all of his adventures there.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

By J. K. Rowling

SUMMARY

Harry Potter is given to the Dursley's as a child. On his 11th birthday, he is introduced to Hagrid and invited to Hogwarts. He meets 2 good friends and they go on cool adventures together. He then finds out about the Sorcerer's Stone from the help of his friends, and tries to stop someone he thinks is going to steal the precious stone. He then makes it down to where the stone is hidden and is face-to-face with Professor Quirell and Voldermort. He defeats them both and destroys the stone.

THEMES

One of the themes used widely in Harry Potter is Friendship. Harry only leaves his friends once and that is to beat the evil after being told to leave them. Another Theme used often in Harry Potter is Family. Harry misses the family he never knew, his parents. This gives him courage to become great.
