example of direct characterization - "You know what a Greaser is?" Bob asked. "White trash with long hair." So you can assume that he is rude and mean and not accepting of people that is not like him.

Minor Character

example of indirect characterization - The Soc's voice broke my thoughts"... just because we got a little drunk the last time..." So also you can assume that he is a drunk and Cherry doesn't like it.

Type of Conflict - character vs. character. i think that it is character vs. character because when Johnny and Pony go to the park the Soc's come and jump them so while the other Soc's are drowning Pony, Johnny pulls out his switchblade and kills Bob. So I would say this is a character vs. character.

The symbol relates to Bob would be beer because he's a drunky and that's all he did before he died.

Quote - On page 45 it states "Listen, greasers, we got 4 more of us in the back seat.." So as yo can see this was almost the last thing he said to the greasers while Cherry was there.

Character traits -

• example of indirect characterization - On page 50 the text states "I reckon it never occurred to you that your brothers are worrying their heads off and afraid to call the police because something like that could get you two thrown in a boy's home pretty quick it'd make your heads spin. And your asleep in the lot? Ponyboy, what on earth is the matter with you? Can't you use your head? You haven't even got a coat on?" (page 49) So you can assume that Darry really cares about Ponyboy and is trying to make something of him but trying to hard. It would be making something of him but he only made one little mistake. You can really tell that he cares. So you can tell that Darry is kind and caring.

Type of conflict -

It would be character vs. character and the two (2) characters would be Darry and Ponyboy. Why? Because Darry hit Ponyboy when he really didn't mean to hit him it just happened when he had to face Ponyboy running away because of hitting him. He just got so mad that he hit him even without thinking of it. And because he hit him was because Ponyboy fell asleep in the lot and was sleeping there until 2 in the morning. So it was a little mistake but doesn't everyone and everything make mistakes in life?
