The combination of information that the ASVAB provides could guide us in determining the direction of students currently in our school. The broad topics assessed will show us whether our current student body is more trade or arts oriented.

The ASVAB was designed originally for military use, but is used more widely with civilians to help determine career path and encourage exploration.
ASVAB also provides a Find Your Interest component that allows both web based and printed resources.
School faculty and counselors can offer the test similar to achievement testing.
Through the ASVAB program they offer support from government employee who will train and support test proctors and even help determine outcomes on each component.
There are no direct costs associated with adopting the ASVAB Program. The test materials, administration and scoring services, resource
personnel, and reference materials are provided at no cost to schools or students.
The counseling staff recommends utilizing the ASVAB to help us determine the direction that we are already headed. When we see students desires, abilities and interests, it will help us understand what our community and demographic need and want in a private school. The only drawback we see is that it is designed for upper school students not giving us a sense of where the middle schoolers are headed, but this has helped us determine that we want to base our direction on where the product of our school is currently.
The faculty and counseling team discussed whether to use an arts aptitude test or a general aptitude test.
We have determined that a general aptitude test would be more efficient in showing us where the students are now.
We can use RIASEC codes for those who lean more towards artistic abilities and interest and then choose to test them in artistic aptitude on a smaller scale.
