- A barn swallow is the national bird of Estonia (1960), because it symbolizes country homes. Barn swallows mostly live in the countryside, on pastures or in barn environments.

The current coat of arm is a golden shield with 3 blue lions with red tongues, surrounded by golden oak branches on both sides.
- Estonia is mostly situated on the limestone. Limestone was selected as our national symbol because it is the main building stone.

- Blue symbolizes homeland's sky, faith into Estonian people and better future.
- Black is homeland's soil, national black coats and folks' hard life in the past.

- Cornflower is the national flower of Estonia (1969). Cornflower grows in rye fields and Estonian people like to eat brown rye bread.

- The first Estonian Song Festival took place in Tartu in 1869. Since 1896 it takes place in Tallinn. Under the singing arch 25,000 people can sing and 100,000 people can listen and sing along.
