Rank
Hermes is actually fairly low on the power scale versus the other gods with a non specific number since he doesn't have any control over a force of nature. But he does have a power that none of the other gods have. Everyone trusts him and he can enter and leave both Olympus and The Underworld as he pleases.
Story of Birth
His one weakness was considered to be the fact that he had a strong impulse to steal, like most humans, since his infancy. This was what caused him to gain another title as the god of thieves and cheaters.
Weakness
Hermes was born inside a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia in Greece. His parents were Zeus, the king of the gods, and the nymph Maea(Maia). According to the story he was born and when his mother fell asleep he ran off to the cattle area where his brother Apollo was.

Hermes' Powers
Hermes was the messenger of the gods. Being the son of Zeus he was granted access to mount Olympus and had the rare privilege of getting to the underworld and coming back to deliver messages to and from Hades. He was the fastest of all the gods because he wore wings on his shoes and was also arguably one of the most ingenuitive.

Another myth of Hermes was that he was the one that lead the dead souls to the underworld so they could further be taken care of by Hades.
One of his major myths associated with him was the story of when he created the first lyre using a turtle shell and cow intestines while he was still very young. The music enchanted Apollo so Hermes struck a deal. He gave Apollo the lyre and Hermes got to keep the cattle he had earlier stolen from him.
