The Mexican soldiers split up while one set of men traveled to San Antonio, while the other men were going straight to Goliad, by the coast. The plan was to capture Goliad, in order to gain control over the entire Gulf Coast. In 1835, thousands of Americans immigrated to Texas. Many of the colonists began to rebel, such as seizing forts, towns, and surrounding areas.

Texans won!

When the Mexicans surrendered, the majority of Mexican troops were told to leave Texas, and the Texans confiscated $10,000, worth of provisions and several cannons. When the Texans won Goliad, they gained the presideo and left over supplies. The following supplies that they gained, were used in sustaining the Texan forces in the Siege of Baxar.
