All these phases show the norms over time related to smoking cigarettes. Smoking began as being something everyone approved of doing, but now less and less people approve.

-Triggering Event: When cigarettes were first for sale on the market.
-The facts:
-Annual consumption in the 1950’s on average was 3,522 a year in the U.S. by single person
-People who smoke socially have no idea what they are getting themselves into and the addiction behind it. “A survey of 2,000 smokers found 24 per cent class themselves as social smokers but more than one in three of these buy up to a packet a day.”
-Advertising: Over time the way cigarettes are advertised has changed dramatically. Originally they were advertised in a positive way and influenced people to smoke them. Now ads are used to prevent cigarette smoking or to get people to quit using them. The image on the next slide is an example of the positive advertising used in the past.

My prediction for a very long away future is that smoking cigarettes will be illegal in the United States.
Smoking Cigarettes is a social change that has been slowly happening as time progresses, but yet it is still a constant battle to diminish the problem completely.
All of the following slides helped me reach my prediction and conclusion:

Learning to become a learner:
In this text, I learned that college is more than just being a student and getting by. You should want more than that. I am relating this to social change. If people aren't willing to stand up and make the change, it most likely will never happen. So be a learner, stand up for what you believe in, make a difference.

A Deadly Wandering:
To compare this text to my social change and to explain how I used the book towards my model; In the book it is talking about the social change with texting and driving. In class we made a model for this social change as a group. We came up with certain things on the chart and that is how I came up with the model for my issue.
