- VC --> LAM decreases lung capacity, therefore the VC would be lower than normal
Diagnosis of LAM Lung Disease
- people with LAM see their doctor due to shortness of breath
- LAM is often misdiagnosed asthma or emphysema
Symptoms of LAM Lung Disease
- shortness of breath
- frequent coughs
- wheezing
- cyst ruptures --> collapsed lung
- muscle cell movement -->
- chylous ascites: flow of lymph is blocked and chyle (lymph fluid) builds up in the stomach
- angiomyolipomas: noncancerous tumers
- cause pain, bleeding, or kidney failure

What is LAM Lung Disease?
- Muscle cells may spread to organs around and cause non-cancerous tumors
- Air sacs begin to swell and form cysts --> causes trouble breathing
- Causes abnormal smooth muscle-like cell reproduction
- Which invades and destroys the tissues of the lung by forming cysts
- Eventually obstructing the flow of air and leading to lung collapse and failure.
