Media Project Life Cycle

2D Animation creation

Distribution

Production

During the distribution stage, it is discussed where the product is going to end up being.

This particular animation was a recent creation of mine and is planning to be used on YouTube to introduce features in which the magazine will upload. These videos will then be promoted across social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram.

This is the final animation:

During the production stage is where I used all of my ideas in which I generated during my pre-production stage. I then sifted through these ideas to calculate an appropriate collection of ideas that would help me create the most innovative and purposeful animation possible. I considered lighting, what materials I would need for example, the magazine logo cut out, the camera angles I was using and also to be very consistent and careful during capturing my 25 frames per second. Creating the final animation with the correct lighting, camera angles and using the correct software meant it could be created as smoothly as possible.

Pre-production

During the pre-production stage, I researched into the history of 2D animation to ensure I had a good understanding of what is already existent in the animation world:

I then started brainstorming ideas for what I wanted my animation to be like and include so that I was considering the features that the target audience would appreciate. I noted ideas around sound, movement and narrative.

Post-production

I also used the pre-production time to experiment with different software in order to ensure that I would be using the most favourable one for my final animation.

Therefore, I tried Stop Motion and Adobe Flash, experimenting with the ideas I currently had. I loved using Stop Motion and decided to use this software to create my final product.

The post-production stage is where I made the finishing touches to my animation.

Here, I edited the collection of frames in which I created through using iStopMotion, using the editing software Premier Pro. I then altered the speed of my animation to quicken the pace and allow it to flow more smoothly - creating a more visually pleasing finish.

I also imported a soundtrack in so that the animation was more interesting and had an element of engagement within.

As well as editing, I ensured I got audience feedback to enable me to make any alterations that would benefit the success of the animation. Therefore, receiving audience feedback meant that I could act on the comments retrieved, making particular appropriate changes before finalising and signing off the project.
