1. What must we construct before we can construct evenly spaced diagonal lines? Explain using the example of 20 degree lines.

Learning Objective: YWBAT project the dimensions of one view onto the dimensions of the other two views of an orthographic 3-view.

Essential Question: Why are orthographic 3-views arranged in an L-shape?

How do we project from the top to the side view?

2. We say that dimensions PROJECT if they line up between two views. For example the green dimension projects from the width of the top view to the width of the front view.

Look closely at the orthographic 3 view. Which dimension (red or blue) can we easily PROJECT from one view to the other?

Today's assignment:

  • Create the side view of a design given its front and top view
  • Use orthographic projection to project the height of the top view onto the width of the side view.
  • Erase all constructions lines after completing the side view (except for the 45º line).
  • Novice, Apprentice, and Practitioner Levels are available. You must complete two.
