What the Author Meant by the Statement

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945)

During his presidency he led the United States through two great crises - the Depression of the 1930s and World War II.

If a nation was hit with a catastrophe it results with a ripple effect upon other nations whom are tied to the source.

To reach recovery, each one is to place an effort into the contribution or else the well-being cannot be achieved.

Agree or Disagree

There is truth in Roosevelt's quote due to the relation of the fact many things are dependent upon other factors to progress.

A reference of Roosevelt's quote is the Stock Market Crash of 1929 which was a cause of the Depression. Canada, one of the United States' main sources of trade, was also affected. Prices were unstable, and unemployment and debt greatly increased.

A relation is to humans, such as the scenario of someone who has traveled abroad without loved ones. They continue to keep in contact which brings peace.

We have learned we cannot live alone, at peace; that our own well-being is dependent upon the well-being of other nations - far away.

- Franklin Delano Roosevelt
