Viking Weapons and Armor

  • Vikings were brutal men on the battlefield.
  • 'Berserks' were men who wore only bearskin and had no need for armor or shields because they believed Odin gave them superpowers in battle.
  • It was hard to defeat them in battle because of how swift and powerful they hit.
  • The Vikings mainly used heavy broadswords, and blunt maces.
  • Armor was basic cloth and leather hides covering the shoulders and breast areas.
  • Shields were mainly wooden boards fitted with an iron grip.

Viking Tactics

  • The vikings would stalk their opponent out in sea, and they would wait to attack at the perfect time when the enemy least expected it.
  • They relied on a fear tactic to scare enemies away.
  • When raided by a viking clan it was a surprise, and enemies had no time to react and fight back.
