What can I do to make my

relationships better?

  • Listen, when others talk to you
  • Think about how they feel
  • Build others up as opposed to tearing them down
  • Be in control of who you are

Col. 3:18-22 18 Wives, submit yourselves

unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the

Lord.

19 Husbands love your wives

and be not bitter against them,

20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged

22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice as menpleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God

Benefits of treating others well (Morris):

Always Treat Others with Kindness, Dignity, and Respect

  • We dictate our own actions
  • We become the better person we appear to be
  • Our reputation for being good is spread before us by others
  • By treating others better, we help them become better people

Treating others badly

Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Col. 3:25 But he that doeth

wrong shall receive for the

wrong which he hath done:

and there is no respect of

persons.

Treating others negatively perpetuates a cycle of negativity (Raghunathan)

Negativity begets negativity, you reinforce negative treatment when you treat others negatively, and they take on that negativity and do the same.

Gal. 6:7 Be not deceived; God

is not mocked: for whatsoever

a man soweth, that shall he

also reap.
