How To Use Prezi: The Basics

Formatting Prezi is very interesting. Formatting is called editing your Path in Prezi because as you present you Prezi the frames follow a certain order, which is called the path.

1. First you begin by clicking the edit path button found in the lower left hand corner of the left sidebar. Now you will be able to see all the objects in your Prezi and the thumbnails for each frame. The thumbnails look like this . They are found on the left sidebar. Click on your objects in the order you wish to present them. A thumbnail will be added to the Left Sidebar on the left side of your screen each time that you click on something. To delete a path step, hover over the top-right edge of a thumbnail to bring up a red 'X' button. Click on it to remove that path point.

2. Drag and drop your thumbnails within the sidebar to rearrange the order of your path. Choose 'Add current view' to capture the view currently filling your screen and add it to the end of your path. Select 'Clear all' to remove all path points from your narrative.

3. When you have finished arranging the path and would like to save it as is click the edit path button again to be brought back to the edit page.

You can check your edits by presenting the Prezi and seeing how the changes reflect in your Prezi and how it is presented.

How To Use Prezi: The Basics

In this example we will use the Subway template. This is what your screen should look like. There are 5 slides in this template but you can insert more by simply putting the mouse over the New Frame button (which has a red Square around it) and while still holding down the left click button (or mouse) drag the new frame to the desired location. Depending on your preference the frame may be to large. To fix this you will have to click on the frame and click on the minus icon under the little hand multiple

times until the frame is at the desired size. You can move the

frame by clicking on the hand and

dragging it to the desired location.

Background Information

What is Prezi?

Prezi was founded and created by Péter Árvai, Szabolcs Somlai-Fischer and Péter Halácsy. It was launched in 2009. All three founders are Hungarian and the word Prezi is hungarian for a short form of presentation. The project is assisted by Sunstone Capital today.

Integration Ideas

Prezi is a newly formed presentation software and story telling tool for presenting ideas on a large, virtual, and three dimensional canvas. Prezi utilizes it's cloud based system and zoom interface to present and navigate through information in a way that has never been seen before. The zoom feature allows the user to zoom in and out of their presentation media to focus the attention of the observer on what the presenter desires. The presenter can also organize the path which the presentation will navigate (i.e. what will be seen in what order). With the free feature anyone can create an unlimited number of Prezi's and share them to everyone publicly. One can upgrade their Prezi account in order to access the multitude of features Prezi offers such as Prezi Desktop, saving with no internet access, Prezi Collaborate, and Prezi viewer for iPad.

How To Use Prezi: The Basics

  • With Prezi, presenting any project is

now the simplest task. Impress your

fellow student with Prezi and become

the smart tech savvy student. Teachers,

have your students present with prezi

and no longer accept the excuse "I left

my flash drive at home and cannot present".

  • Use prezi to play games and create activities to be used in the

classroom. Example: slide shows, vocab matching game, Math maze (using maze template), mind mapping activities, etc.

  • Prezi allows teachers and students to collaborate on projects and

share with the entire class in an instant.

  • Students are motivated and enthusiastic about presenting Prezi

because it is fun and exciting.

  • Prezi also great for students with disabilities because it has large

viewing screens, it is simple to understand, and other accommodations can be made. Prezi can be utilized in all subject areas for any grade and can be used to meet a few standards.

Templates:

  • After logging into Prezi begin by selecting Create New Prezi. Something like this should pop up.

How To Use Prezi: The Basics

Important Information

To save a Prezi is easy. All you have to do is go to the top of the page and look for the save icon and click it. It looks like this

The icon will turn resemble a loading wheel and it will tell you it is saving. Prezi also saves automatically when you make changes, just like google drive, and it tells you the last time the Prezi was saved. Although, if your internet connection is bad sometimes Prezi does not save automatically and it will not allow you to edit until it reconnects with the internet (just like google docs).

To exit an save a Prezi simply click on the exit button and select save and exit. You will now be brought to the presentation page of Prezi. This format allows you to present on any computer or laptop that has internet connection.

To present a finished prezi, select the Present button on top of the page. The letters should be blue and there should be a blue play icon next to it. The page should look different then when you were editing the Prezi. There will be information under your Prezi but that is not important. Begin presenting by enabling full screen by clicking on the icon that looks like a rectangle and then agreeing to allow prezi full screen access with keyboard controls. Prezi should start off by viewing the home page (first slide). To move to another slide you can hit the forward keyboard button or clicking the forward arrow at the bottom of the page. The same applies for going backwards. When you are done Prezi will bring you back to the home slide again.

Welcome to Prezi!!! Before you start making your first prezi there are somethings you should know.

1. You will need to create an account with Prezi. This will only require you to select a user name, password and include an email. I recommend using a business email for Prezi.

2. After creating an account, Prezi will have you select what you will be using it for. If you do not want to pay a Month Fee i suggest choosing the free option. The free option allows you to create unlimited number of prezis but they are available to the public and you cannot make them private. If you are looking to make Prezi do more for you then there are other options that are not very costly.

3. You will also need a stable internet connection since prezi is a software that uses the internet and cloud storage.
