Courtly Love In Society today

By: Joseph Brown, Joi Pritchett, Milser Dubon, and Maya Advani

When made public, love rarely endures.

In today's society people do not tend to show a lot of affection in public and tend to love more when they are alone.

Why love does not endure in public

A slight presumption causes a lover to suspect his beloved.

What is it that drives people to inquire about the personal affairs of others when it serves them no benefit? Is it an innate curiosity, or a more trivial matter of gossip that drives us to unnecessarily involve ourselves in business that isn’t ours? Perhaps it’s our selfish desire for attention that provokes us to willingly give up all that’s sacred.

In today’s society when someone is caught speaking or interacting with another person the spouse would tend to get suspicious that something is going on between them.

Courtly love is:

Your sweetheart calls you by another's name. His eyes linger too long on your best friend. He talks with excitement about a girl at work. And the fire catches. Jealousy - that sickening combination of possessiveness, suspicion, rage, and humiliation - can overtake your mind and threaten your very core as you contemplate your rival.

Helen Fisher

Helen E. Fisher is an American anthropologist, human behavior researcher, and self-help author.

  • a cluster of related ideas and sensibilities characterizing an extreme expression of romantic passion that was demonstrated frequently by characters in medieval literature.

He who is not jealous cannot love

In today's society, jealousy is an example of

showing that you have claimed your significant

other. If one is not jealous it shows that they do not

truly love their partner.

Love is always a stranger in the home of avarice

Why jealousy is an example of love

By recognizing the signs of romantic jealousy, by realizing what feelings are normal and abnormal, and by examining the roots of our jealous feelings, we can effectively learn to cope with it by changing our behavior. Believe it or not, like other difficult emotional experiences, jealousy can be a trigger for growth, increased self-awareness, and greater understanding of both your partner and your relationship.

In today’s society we see that greedy people tend to have a straightforward goal and cannot find true love.

Why Money/Material things prevent love

When one lover dies, a widowhood of two years is required of the survivor

"Years of previous research have turned up compelling evidence that materialism isn't great for anybody, Carroll said. Multiple studies have found that people who are materialistic are also more anxious, depressed, and insecure than non-materialistic types. A stronger love of money has also been linked to trouble at home, as these individuals tend not to balance family evenly with work."

In today's society when a man or woman significant other has passed away for whatever reason, one is generally a widow for two years, grieving over their lost one.

Why two years of grieving is required after the death of your spouse

Some authorities say that it should be at least a year after the death of your mate before you make any major decision, which certainly includes marriage. If the death of your mate was sudden, the resolution of your grief may be particularly difficult, and you may wait several years before even considering the idea of remarriage.
