Steps in filming the movie
Our Research on To Kill a Mockingbird: Book Vs Movie
In movie, the director had cut many scenes from the book some examples are Ms. Maudie's house on fire, the audience never meet Jem and scout's cousin and their uncle, the audience don't see the family house that aunt Alexandra lives in and Mr.Dolphus Raymond's conversation with Scout and Dill.
Why did we choose this poem for filming?
We first chose the poem Naming of parts to film because when we first read the poem it gave us a deep impression for the interesting theme about problem of war. As we got together and talked about the project, we all agreed in choosing naming of parts.
Naming of parts
by Henry Reed
To-day we have naming of parts. Yesterday,
We had daily cleaning. And to-morrow morning,
We shall have what to do after firing. But to-day,
To-day we have naming of parts. Japonica
Glistens like coral in all of the neighboring gardens, And to-day we have naming of parts.
This is the lower sling swivel. And this
Is the upper sling swivel, whose use you will see,
When you are given your slings. And this is the piling swivel, Which in your case you have not got. The branches
Hold in the gardens their silent, eloquent gestures,
Which in our case we have not got.
This is the safety-catch, which is always released
With an easy flick of the thumb. And please do not let me
See anyone using his finger. You can do it quite easy
If you have any strength in your thumb. The blossoms
Are fragile and motionless, never letting anyone see
Any of them using their finger.
And this you can see is the bolt. The purpose of this
Is to open the breech, as you see. We can slide it
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers:
They call it easing the Spring.
They call it easing the Spring: it is perfectly easy
If you have any strength in your thumb: like the bolt,
And the breech, and the cocking-piece, and the point of balance,
Which in our case we have not got; and the almond-blossom
Silent in all of the gardens and the bees going backwards and forwards,
For to-day we have naming of parts.
Connection to the poem
As we were writing the script and filming we mainly focus on the theme and information from the poem. That is about a little boy that was recruited to an army, put into a training camp before he had gone into combat. As he was trained, he thought about his days back home about his childhood, thus showing the audience about problems of war.
Directorial changes made
The directorial changes we have made are the beginning of the film we add the setting for the story, we cut out some details such as the things that the boy did everyday, emphasizing the important parts of the story by show details such as the detail in the boy's memory and putting a little bit of a ending to the story. We only used one person to play all the characters in the film.
Step 1
Naming of Parts, poem to short film
The first step in filming the video is to find our topic and write the script for the video.
Step 2
Final Step
Next thing we have to do is to find places for filming, props for video, time to shoot the video and the actor in the film.
With everything done now it's the time to edit the video and after the editing is done we show the class.
Step 3
Why did we make directorial changes??
After everything is set we are ready to shoot the video. We will start from scene 1 to scene 5
We have made the changes to our short film in order to make it more understandable by giving the film a setting and providing a more entertaining outcome of the story with a person playing all the parts in the film.
