The Solar Temple

A Cult is basically a group of people that are brainwashed into becoming mindless zombies and come together to achieve the leaders goals and even put themselves before the group and the leaders ideals

The Solar Temple is a religious doomsday cult who's beliefs are a combination of Neo-Templar beliefs, with esoteric, as well as apocalyptic environmental concerns.

  • Re-establishing the correct notions of authority and power in the world.
  • Affirming the primacy of the spiritual over the temporal.
  • Giving back to man the conscience of his dignity.
  • Helping humanity through its transition.
  • Participating in the Assumption of the Earth in its three frameworks: body, soul, and spirit.
  • Contributing to the union of the Churches and working towards the meeting of Christianity and Islam.
  • Preparing for the return of Christ in solar glory.
  • Fire is considered cleansing and vital for safe passage to Sirius
  • Strong concern for the state of the environment and saw the current state of the environment as a warning of the apocalypse.
  • The Blue Star, Sirius, seeded life on earth 26,000 years ago
  • Solar Temple members are “noble travelers,” sent to Earth to spread the truth then return to Sirius.

The central authority was clled the Synarchy of the Temple, whose membership was secret. Its top 33 members were known as the Elder Brothers of the Rosy Cross (an alternative name for the Rosicrucians), and were headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. The Council of the Order formed Lodges which were run by a Regional Commander and three Elders. Progression in the Order was by levels and grades, with three grades per level – the levels being The Brothers of Parvis, The Knights of the Alliance and the Brothers of the Ancient Times in ascending order. The Lodges had altars, rituals and costumes and during ceremonies, members wore Crusader-type robes and were to hold in awe a sword which Di Mambro said was an authentic Templar artifact, given to him a thousand years ago in a previous life.

Jouret was interested in initiating attractive, wealthy and influential members, and it was reputed that several affluent Europeans were secret members of the group.

The members of the cult tended to be wealthy so their living conditions were very good and the members were allowed to live their normal life except, they had to attend all of the orders meetings and all members before joining had to say a oath to agree to severe punishment , to obey every rule of the order, to keep matters of the order in private and not to talk about it which was a rule that was punishable by torture and death if it wasnt obeyed. This is how the two leaders kept order in their group and they booth were very strict in enforcing them

Joseph Di Mambro was born in southern France in 1924. While he trained as a clock maker and jeweler, he became interested in esoteric religionswell as spirituality. He became a member of the Rosicrucian Order AMORC (Ancient and Mystic Order of the Rosy Cross) in January of 1956

Around 1970, Di Mambro got in trouble for swindling and fled southern France to settle near the Swiss border. In 1973, he founded the Center for Preparing the New Age, becoming a full-time spiritual master in 1976. His group purchased a house in France, near Geneva, where they practiced communal life and esoteric ceremonies. However, Di Mambro felt that in order for the group to expand they needed a charismatic leader

In the early 80's, Di Mambro was introduced to Jouret and after being impressed by what he saw he introduced Jouret to meet Julian Origas, a supposed former Gestapo agent who had founded the Renewed Order of the Temple (ORT), a group that combined Templar and Rosicrucian ideas. In 1981, Jouret became a member of ORT, and at the time of Origas's death in 1983, became Grand Master. Within a year, however, he was forced out of the group, taking half of the members with him.

Since Jouret had been in Di Mambro's groups since 1982 Di Mambro was able to trust him and since he displayed alot of charisma during meetings and was a physician-which made is word more respectable Jouret fit perfectly for the type of leader Di mambro was looking for and together the two of them founded the Order of the Solar Temple in 1984, with Di Mambro taking the backstage role and allowing Jouret to put on the show.

Personality

Jouret born October 18, 1947 in Kikwit, Belgian Congo then his is parents brought him to their native Belgium in the 1950s, where he attended the Free University of Brussels and received a medical degree in 1974.

Two years later he joined the Belgian army's paratroopers where he was sent to save the europeans from the civil unrest in Congo.

After leaving the army, Jouret began studying homeopathy and became a homeopathic physician. He traveled widely, studying various forms of alternative and spiritual healing. In the early 1980s, Jouret established a practice in Annemasse, France, near the Swiss border, and lectured widely throughout Europe and Quebec, Canada, on alternative medicine and the paranormal.

During one of his lecture tours, Luc Jouret met Joseph Di Mambro, who had founded several New Age organizations and shared mutual interests with Jouret. Di Mambro asked Jouret to conduct a series of lectures at his Golden Way Foundation, located in Geneva, Switzerland. Then, in 1984, the two founded the Solar Temple

To publicize their organization Joret being the more outgoing

charismatic one would draw hundreds to his lectures and also spoke on the radio. As of 1983, he gave lectures in Switzerland, France and Canada and was able to increases the temples membership and by 1980 the temple had more than

400 affluent members.

Joret's personality is almost the polar opposite

to that of Di Mambro he was extrovert,

charismatic , eccentric and liked to being adored

and around people.He was also

very intelligent too , and though he exercised authoritarian status like Di mambro but he prefered speaking about Di mambros and his ideals and getting more members to join the temple than to bore himself with the business and financial work. As the years Jouret grew more eccentric and then onlly concerned himself with getting donations from the members and having sex and he would have no remorse for breaking up couples to get the certain woman he wanted for that hour. To sum everything up he was a intelligent narcissistic eccentric and nymphomaniac person

what really caused the mass suicide that happened October 4, 1994,

In the 1990s members started to drift away from the cult and it was becoming more exposed for the fraud that it is. One of main causes of the cult breaking up was Tony and Nicky Dutoit. Tony already knew that the spiritual stuff was fake because previously hooked up electrical devices that jouret used for ' spiritual conjurings. Despite that he still agreed with most of the ideals and thought the money was going twoards everyone in the cult but when he found out that jouret and di mambro was using the money and people for their own personal gain he started telling people about how he set up the electrical equipment and soon his wife Nicky joined in exposing the leaders and then the couple fled from the cult and hid out in Quebec.

After the exposition many members left and at the same time different european governments was traced a bunch of frauds and arms dealing back to the clan. With Jourets and Di Mambros world crumbling around they thought that the only way to leave and purify everything was to

kill themselves and embark on the journey to the star Sirius where they would be born again and would be free from the world and all the trials of man, but before that they embarked to the star they still had to get their revenge on the Dutoits.

Di Mambro selected two members of the 'golden circle' to carry out the their ritual murder," one of whom traveled all the way from Switzerland for the assault. On October 4, 1994, in a calculated attack, Tony Dutoit was stabbed 50 times. Nicky Dutoit was stabbed eight times in the back and four times in the throat (where conception was believed to occur) and once in each breast. Their infant son, Emmanuel, was stabbed six times. After the two assassins left, two other devout OTS members came to make final arrangements at the crime scene. They wrapped the infant in a black plastic bag and left a wooden stake on his chest before meticulously preparing for their own suicide and the incineration of all the bodies. Meanwhile, the assassins made their way back to Switzerland to rejoin their comrades and also Jouret and Di Mambro, who had left Quebec months previous under increasing scrutiny

Twelve hours after the murderDi Mambro and twelve followers performed a ritual Last Supper. After that mass suicides and murders were conducted at Cheiry and Salvan, two villages in Western Switzerland, and at Morin Heights — 15 inner circle members committed suicide with poison, 30 were killed by bullets or smothering, and 8 others were killed by other causes. In Switzerland, many of the victims were found in a secret underground chapel lined with mirrors and other items of Templar symbolism. The bodies were dressed in the order's ceremonial robes and were in a circle, feet together, heads outward, most with plastic bags tied over their heads; they had each been shot in the head. It is believed that the plastic bags were a symbol of the ecological disaster that would befall the human race after the OTS members moved on to Sirius. It is also believed that these bags were used as part of the OTS rituals, and that members would have voluntarily worn them without being placed under duress. There was also evidence that many of the victims in Switzerland were drugged before they were shot. Other victims were found in three ski chalets; several dead children were lying together. The tragedy was discovered when officers rushed to the sites to fight the fires which had been ignited by remote-control devices. Farewell letters left by the believers stated that they believed they were leaving to escape the "hypocrisies and oppression of this world."

No one really knows if this Cult is truly gone, though many assumed all the members died after the mass suicides in 1994, but there has been flare ups after October 4th of multiple mass suicides similar to that of the Solar's Temples the most recent being 1997.There's also been flares up in activity the most recent being the trial of Michael Tabachnik, an internationally renowned Swiss musician and conductor, who was arrested as a leader of the Solar Temple in the late 1990. He had his first trial in 2001 and then was acquitted and then had a second trial in '06 in which he was also acquitted for. Since then there hasnt been any sucideds or activity tHAT shows that the cult currently is existing but many sources belive that the cult is now in a dormant sttate a and that meetings still take place in a small lodge in Quebec.

Does the Cult Still Exsist?

The Leaders

Joseph Di Mambro

Although there isn't many sources that talk indepth about Di Mambros personality many sources did say or hint on certain things. From the information gathered it shows that Di Mambro was very intelligent, but very secretive and introverted who wasn't confrotable in public situations, which made him look for a more charasmatic leader for his cult so he could confortably control things from behind the scenes; he was basically the brain behid the cults schemes. Di Mambro , as already stated, was very controlling and always felt the need to be in power and had a very harsh and abrasive personality hence his nickname "the dictator".
