Bass and Flinders named many places like Bass Strait which was a rough section of sea they had to go through. Flinders Island is an island they saw on their way.
Some places were named after them like Bass Street in Australia. Flinders University was named in his honour. The list goes on and on.
We talk about Bass and Flinders today because of their bravery and epic adventures they did back in their day.
Bass married a beautiful girl called Elizabeth Waterhouse. She was devastated when Bass never came back from his last voyage on the Venus.
Bass lived till he was 32 and his death was unknown for when he set sail on the Venus in 1803 he was never to be seen again. Some thought that he was a smuggler and made a suicide attempt.
Flinders circumnavigated Australia in a boat called the Investigator. They went through lots of hectic weather in it.
When Flinders was put in a French jail in Mauritius he was in jail for 6½ years.
When the war ended and the Europeans beat the French and he was freed he was heart broken to find that no one remembered him.
