Introduction to Infosys:

1)In the initial days, as the company was a start-up, there was high centralization and low complexity in the organization’s environment.

2) After liberalization, during 1992-2002, there was a massive growth in the company. The focus was shifted on different market segments and different clients.

  • Started in 1981 by seven people with US$ 250
  • MATRIX structure was employed within the production unit. The company’s structure becomes moderately centralized and there was an increase in complexity.
  • Today, Infosys is a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing with revenues of US$ 7.126 billion

3) After 2003 the company become too large that the need for decentralization appeared. A change in existing structure was brought in and the company divided into IBU’s with each IBU concentrating on a particular sector

  • Vision:

" We will be a globally respected corporation."

4) In 2011, the company revisited the organization structure and major developments were seen. All the IBUs were consolidated into four verticals on the basis of the clients area.

"Strategic Partnerships for Building Tomorrow’s Enterprise."
