SIDE EFFECTS
Side Effects are extremele rare but the most common one was if pregnant during a PET scan babies can have serious birth defects or have illness.
PET scan (Positron Emitron Tomography) a procedure that can be used to see where Fluorine 18 in the body. Typically the scan is focused on one part of the body in search of diseases, such as alzheimers .
Fluorine 18
PET Scan Specifics
Alzheimers
A PET scan starts with an injection of
Florabetapir into the paitient's bloodstream. Florabetapir likes to stick to protein plaques located in the brain, it also contains the Fluorine 18 isotope. Next, Positron emissions are detected by a PET scanner. Based on these data they can reveal how much protein plaque the Florabetapir has stuck to.
Alzheimer's disease is a ticking bomb that slowly destroys your brain's memory, social skills
and other important brain functions. This is due to protein plaques intefering with brain function.
