Traveling to an unfamiliar destination can be stressful because it increases the chance that people will get lost at some point. Way finding Kiosks or Electronic Locator Maps can help people navigate their way to and around venues including shopping malls, business buildings, business parks, amusement parks, sports arenas, department stores, shopping districts, tourist attractions and restaurants.

Same problems are experienced inside our University. Guests and incoming first year students are puzzled by the complex structure of our school. Hence, the idea of developing an alternative locator map for the Technological University of the Philippines – Manila which includes converting an ordinary LED television to a touch screen TV using IR Technology was proposed.

The Infrared Touch Screen is a cost-effective, self-contained bezel that can attach to any computer monitor and transform it to a touch screen display. Embedded within the bezel is a series of infrared LEDs based along two sides of the bezel with IR transmitters on two sides and IR receivers on the other two.

The TUP-Manila Locator Map has an interface used by people who wants to locate the place they are heading to and contain departments, buildings, and facilities within TUP and its main personnel such as the department heads and deans offices.
