  • Being alone on a daily bases may also cause a mental illness and if we have the human contact needed it helps prevent this at an early date.
  • If we are left on our own from the beginning there is never going to be any room for new knowledge due to lack of human to human contact, there would be no language or any of the technology we use and rely on everyday.

Final Answer?

I didn't get an overall yes or no answer but from everything I researched my final answer would be there is no way as humans we could ever adapt to go from being in groups to being alone for the rest of our lives.

What we need from others

  • When we are around other people we get a feeling of security.
  • We grow and learn by watching what other people do.
  • We all gain encouragement from our friends and family to continue on a healthy life style.

What we all have in us

Everyone has the ability to feel, we feel love, anger, sadness, etc. If there was no one around us would we still keep the ability to feel emotions?

PBS states that having people around us gives us a knowledge of our own identity and helps us feel apart of something larger than ourselves, without this we wouldn't be able to do the things we do everyday.

We can ask ourselves one question could we survive on our own if it came to it?

Do People Need Other People in Order to Survive?

What majority say

Many people believe they are capable of living on their own and never needing anyone's help, they believe they don't need anyone in order to feel happy, these people are usually the ones that portray themselves as strong mighty and all-knowing.

Other people know they wouldn't be able to live without others in their life, they rely on others to help them and show them emotion, these are your sociable people.

To be Alone or Not to be Alone?

  • When we think about being alone we think more about independence and self-worth but what if we were alone 100% of the time?
  • When we think about being in a group of people we think about being the leader or a follower, but do we really want to spend all of our time with other people?

Hedonic Adaption:

What this means is our ability to adapt to our changing circumstances.

If we had to go from our everyday lives to a life of being alone all the time it is very unlikely we would survive.

When we are born

The minute we are born we begin to learn about our surroundings.

  • It has been proven that a new born baby has to be touched in order to survive, why is this, a baby with no social interaction has no sense of touch or feeling of mothers love which makes it impossible for it to survive, this is because touch and interaction helps produce psychological and physical growth in humans.
