Exposition: The story opens up with Della "the wife". She is worried about her husband's Christmas gift.
Rising Action: As the events continue Della decides to go and sell her hair in order to get money to buy Jim "the husband" a gift ( a gold chain). When Jim arrives he doesn't seem to react well At Della's look.
Climax: Della opens Jim's present to find the combs, it was clear that Jim was shocked and not angry with Della.
Falling Action: Della gives Jim the watch chain, and presented with his gift, Jim calmly reveals that he sold his watch to buy Della her combs
Resolution: In the end both have gifts that they cant use.

1. Internal Conflict-is a struggle between the character and itself. (Poverty)
2. External Conflict- is a struggle between a character and another character. (She had t0 face many struggles to buy her Jim a present)
Point of View (is from which persons point of view the story was told) : Omniscient Third person because the author didn't show much of Jim's feeling only what Della interprets going to be and the author gives outside knowledge of the magi.
Mood(the overall feeling you get from the story): Is a loving one but one of suspence.
