Great Britain had been prepared to only grant independence if blacks were given some of the power in government

Nelson Mandela is the first black president in South African. Both black and white were allowed to vote.
A law is becoming effective. It separates the black and the white, in the education system.
South African is removed fro the United Nations, and is not allowed back before the apartheid ends
Paul Simon is making an Album with the local South Africans. Simon is criticized by the African National Congress, for breaking the cultural boycott

Nelson Mandela is arrested with several others, who also are against apartheid.
The police kill 69 people. Apartheid requires blacks to carry passbooks.
The president ends the ban on the African National Congress.
A high School is starting a protest against the education system. 600 people are killed.
The government is creating a law that says the black can't have the same homeland as a white
Apartheid begins.
National Party defeats the United Party.

Nelson is again arrested for his role in bombing government targets. He is sent to life in prison
Nelson Mandela is released after 27 years from prison. Nelson is thanking President de Klerk for helping him.
