Personal Stories

  • During World War Two, in 1943, Alvarez was asked if whether or not Germany had a bomb project. His method succeded and they found that Germany had not atomic bomb project. His method is still used today.

How did Luis impact the world?

How did Luis impact the world?

Luis influenced the world in many ways. He made many scientific breakthroughs in science. He created a method to help seek out a way to find atomic bombs, he devised a way to detonate a plutonium bomb, discovered that Helium-3 is not actually unstable, and he and his team had a large Hydrogen Bubble Chamber in operation, which he won the Nobel Prize for. He also was a co-discoveror for the phenomenon of the K-electron capture by nuclei. He also designed and built the Berkeley 40-foot proton linear accelerator
