RELEVANCE OF THE STUDY

The relevance of proclamation of the Philippine Indepence in 1898 is the truth of how the Filipinos gained independence from spain. The significant achievement of Emilio Aguinaldo was the proclamation of the Independence that is happened in Kawit, Cavite. Emilio Aguinaldo believed that by proclaming the independence would inspire the Filipino people to fight more against the spaniards and let other nations recognize the indepence of our country and also, let the Filipinos have their right to freedom from spain. It is relevant to all of the Filipinos because, after a long period of suffering from the spanish colonization, we finally achieve the freedom that we all have been seeking for and it is the start of the progression of our country.

*Filipinos started a revolution in August 1896 because of the abuses and harsh treatment of the Spaniards.

*Governor Miguel Lopez de Legazpi' way of possessing island is not recognized by the international law.

* Don Pedro Paterno proposed the Pact of Biak-Na-Bato which aims to end clash between the groups of Don Fernando Primo de Rivera and Don Emilio Aguinaldo.

On December 23,1897, Generals Celestino Tejero and Ricardo Money of the Soanish army arrived in the Biak Na Bato but they became hostages of the rebels. Because of this, A ceasefire was declared in both sides and an agreement between the Spanish government and Aguinaldo was made where Aguinaldo will be exiled in Hongkong, in exchange, they will grant independence in the Philippines.

* When Aguinaldo already went to Hongkong, his other colleagues didn't believe the Spaniards that's why they teamed up against the Americans where they defeated the Spaniards on May 1, 1898 after the Battle of Manila Bay.
