ElectionBuddy

Innovating Democracy

TEAM TROUBLESHOOTERS INITIATIVE

About

ElectionBuddy

Imagine logging into a computer terminal – perhaps your own personal computer -- and, with a couple of quick clicks, exercising your Constitutional right to cast your vote in a federal election. Will sidestepping the nuisances of finding the correct polling location and standing in line for hours increase voter participation? How close are we to seeing such a system in place?

In any country democratic voting is the most important event that allow its citizens to exercise their power by voting and electing their representatives. And to protect this right of the citizens, conducting fair elections is the basic prerequisite for any country. In a democratic system, every vote counts. But still many adult citizens don't go to cast their votes on election day. They may be out of town or may be they feel the voting center is too far.

Problem

Statement

Why can't we cast our votes and select our representatives with a few taps or clicks on the screen. Why can't there be a system where we can vote online through the comfort of our homes. Though many online voting systems have been proposed in the past, we don't see them in reality.

Solutions

Solutions:

* The Internet voting system tends to maximize user participation.

* Users can vote from any location, access any systems or devices with an internet connection.

* Provides a safe space for users to vote privately.

* Residents living abroad and people with difficulties in traveling or reduced mobility can vote too

* High precision ,fair elections.

* Higher efficiency when compared to offline voting systems.

How is this better than present voting system?

1. This voting system in completely online and only requirement is to have a valid Aadhaar number and Voter ID number.

2. Users can caste their vote using any devices including mobile phones.

3. It's very secure. Also, the password is stored in hash and salt format so the system is unbreakable.

4. The person doesn't have to be at a particular location so no votes will be lost.

5. It is a decentralized system so altering the number of votes isn't possible even by the hackers.

6. Saves a lot of money incurred in General Elections.

DEPENDENCIES

DEPENDENCIES

-Resource Dependencies

This dependency originates from a project constraint as it deals with the availability of shared resources.

Assumptions

For election organizers, planning postal or ballot box elections is synonymous with high costs: you need to find an appropriate physical space to hold the election, inform eligible voters, prepare postal voting forms and organize the vote count. An online voting system gives maximum flexibility and efficiency in election planning and allows easy creation of ballots online. Reminders can be conveniently sent via email. By eliminating the use of physical post and manual vote counting you can avoid result-distorting mistakes such as loss of voting documents and miscounted votes. Easy ballot creation and personal election invitation design, as well as automatic vote counting, greatly simplifies election organization.
