Born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford, England.
Baptized on April 26, 1564.
Married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582. when William was 18 at the time, and Anne was 26 and pregnant.
First daughter, Susanna, was born on May 26, 1583. Then they had twins- Hamnet and Judith, born February 2, 1585. Hamnet died in childhood at the age of 11, on August 11, 1596.
The "Lost Years" were when Shakespeare disapeared from all records, showing up in sometime around 1592.
Shakespeare wrote sonnets, plays, and poetry.Shakespeare wrote in Early Modern English. He also had two very specific other writing styles: prose and iambic pentameter.. Shakespeare wrote three types of plays: Histories, Comedies and Tragedies.
Before his death he put a curse on his tomb. "Blessed be the man that spares these stones, And cursed be he who moves my bones"
William Shakespeare allegedly died on his birthday, April 23, 1616.
William Shakespeare's legacy is a body of work that will never again be equaled in Western civilization. His words have endured for 400 years, and still reach across the centuries as powerfully as ever.
Elizabethan Drama/ The Globe Theatre
Elizabethan Drama refers to the plays shown during the rule of queen Elizabeth. Ranging from 1558 to 1603.
During this time, the public started to go to plays in large numbers. The construction good sized playhouses were the cause of this.
The most popular types of plays were about the history of England’s rulers, but plays of revenge and bawdy comedies also drew large crowds.
The most famous Elizabethan play writer was Shakespeare but others were Christopher Marlowe (Dr. Faustus) and Ben Johnson.
The biggest playhouse of Elizabethan theaters was The Globe Theater.
The Globe Theater was in operation from 1599 to 1642.
Evidence shows that The Globe was a three story amphitheatre approximately 100 feet in diameter and could hold about 3,000 spectators.
Modern Day Adaptions of and Reference to Shakespeare's Work
Angoor is a Bollywood Adaption of "A Comedy of Erros" and Carry on Cleo which is an adaption of both Antony on Cleopatra and Julius Caesar.
Some songs that musicians have referred to or or written about are Taylor Swift with Love Song, Arctic Monkeys with I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor, And The Beatles with I Am the Walrus.
Some Phrases invented y Shakespeare are: "All our yesterdays" "All that glitters is not gold" and "All's well that ends well" Some Phrases are "Accused" "Amazement" and "Bedroom"
Modern writers should study Shakespeare because he challenges the student with difficult language and style.

The English monarch was Queen Elizabeth I
It was the Elizabethan Era because during Queen Elizabeth’s reign. She controlled everything in England. She had everything form poetry to theaters named after her.
Queen Elizabeth I was into the theater and poetry.
Story telling, music, dancing, fiber arts, table games, and the theater were all very fun was of entertainment.
