The qualification provides knowledge and practical skills related to the NVQ Level 3 for ICT Professionals

  • The qualification will be awarded to candidates who successfully complete the assessments for one core unit:
  • City & Guilds Unit - 502: Customer support provision 3
  • Plus four optional units:
  • Three of the options must come from the choices
  • One unit can come from another level of ICT Systems Support

This award is aimed at candidates who:

  • Do not have access to an N/SVQ
  • Wish for career progression within the Information Technology industry
  • Wish to develop the skills learnt from GNVQs and other qualifications
  • Require evidence towards the underpinning knowledge of the N/SVQ
  • Wish to undertake a Modern Apprenticeship, using the underpinning knowledge gained from this vocationally related qualification

Progression routes

This qualification was developed to keep pace with the fast changing information technology sector and is for candidates who:

  • do not have access to an N/SVQ
  • wish to install and support ICT systems
  • want career progression within the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry
  • wish to develop the skills learnt from NVQs and other qualifications
  • require evidence towards the underpinning knowledge of the N/SVQ
  • wish to undertake an Apprenticeship, using the underpinning knowledge gained from this
  • Vocationally Related Qualification.

Candidates who complete the Level 3 qualification have the following opportunities for progression:

  • IT Practitioner awards (ICT Systems Support) at Level 4 which extend their capabilities in the use of ICT Systems Support
  • Additional units within the Level 3 qualification to extend the range of their skills
  • N/SVQs in Information Technology
  • Employment in a range of fields including the IT industry
