- After the beetle hatches from its shell, it's known as a larva
- Continually grow for about 2 weeks
- Uses small pieces of grains to make "cocoon-like covering"
- While inside the "cocoon", it starts to transform

- Diet: cereal, flour, pet food, birdseed, chocolate, and nuts
- Usually live for about 3 - 6 months
- Adult female can lay up to 200 eggs at once
- Takes between 3 - 5 days to hatch
- Eggs laid on small pieces of food or in packaging
