Consent and Boundaries

Supporting a Survivor

So What is Consent?

Resources

  • Consent is an affirmative, unambiguous, and conscious decision by each participant to engage in mutually agreed-upon activity.
  • Enthusiastic yes!
  • It is:
  • informed
  • voluntary
  • revocable
  • It's also not just for sex!
  • Hugs
  • Pictures

What are some myths around sexual assault?

Some Reminders

Consent cannot be given:

  • Under the age of consent (18 in CA)
  • Under the threat of violence or other forms of coercion
  • When someone has a mental or physical situation that prevents them from fully understanding the act
  • When intoxicated (we'll talk about this more)
  • Feeling uncomfortable is not always a bad thing!
  • Consent, sex, and sexual assault are sensitive topics. If you feel triggered, please feel free to leave for a bit to get some air or water!
  • This should be a safe space! As always, respect your sisters and their experiences/stories/opinions.
  • For some of you this is new, for some it's review, and we can all learn from each other.
  • If you have any questions for us, we are always here to talk! :)
