History of the Periodic Table
- The periodic table was created in 1869.
- When the periodic table was made there were already 63 elements found.
- The first element, phosphorous, was found in 1649.
Elements Structure
- Each element is made up of different atoms.
- The atoms inside of elements can be large or small.
- Every element has a certain number of protons and electrons.
- If the atomic number changes it becomes a different element.
Dmitri Mendeleev
- Dmitri Mendeleev was a Russian chemist and inventor.
- Dmitri created a periodic table of his own, in which the atomic mass increased from left to right.
- He left 3 blank spaces for the elements we haven't found yet.
Atomic Structure
- The atomic structure is the structure of an atom.
- The structure of an atom consist of a positively charged nucleus surrounded and neutralized by negatively charged electrons that orbit around it the nucleus.
- Atoms have three subatomic particle known as protons, neutrons, and electrons.
Particles of Atoms and their Charges
- The are three particles of an atom are protons, neutrons, and electrons.
- Protons have a positive charge and are found inside the nucleus of an atom.
- Neutrons have a neutral charge and also found inside the nucleus.
- Electron have a negative charge and are found surrounding the nucleus.
Symbols
- A symbol is a design that stands for something.
- A symbol is a visual image.
