Spectrum of Allies
Reggie Clemons
The spectrum of allies displays targets (individuals, groups, institutions) within their contexts. From this we can see who would be the most appropriate targets and why, and more closely hone in on targets that can shift from opponents to allies. This spectrum helps visualize what efforts should be spent to create a greater impact towards the ultimate goal.
- The neutral allies are also placed either in the center for being almost entirely neutral, while others are seemingly closer to the opponents.
- I placed the governor as a passive opponent because it seems as though he does not care about Reggie's case, but there is still a possibility that he can be swayed, rather than being staunchly opposed.
- Some courts I placed as passive opponents because although courts should be neutral, in this circumstance (and in actuality others as well) do not seem to be. I would have liked to have been more specific with the courts in the "passive opponents" by listing specific members but I am not sure of that information.
- In creating this spectrum of allies, we can see that in Reggie's case, he has very powerful opponents--opponents that have greater agency with direct influence of his outcome and of the greater system of justice. While this reality is harsh, it is important to be aware of because it serves an important purpose of better equipping oneself and one's allies through knowing the strength of the opposition and where they stand on the spectrum.
