Backboard and Cervical Collar
What is it?
Backboard: A medical device used for the immobilization and transportation of patients with suspected spinal injuries
Cervical Collar: Device positioned over the throat roughly midway between the chin and collarbones used to immobilize cervical area.

How to Backboard
- Step 1: Grab an assistant (Min. of 3 people)
- Step 2: Place backboard on the ground next to victim
- Step 3: Position yourself and your assistant around the victim so that one of you are at the head, one at the chest, and another at the knees.

How to Backboard continued..
- Put Neck brace on
- Check Vital signs
- Step 4: On a certain count the two people on the victims side (by the chest and knees) will roll the victim on their side.
- Step 5: On the count of the person holding the head you will slide the back board under the victim.
- Step 6: Install a cervical collar (C-Collar) and secure it to the victim's neck to keep the head from turning in any direction.

How to Backboard Continued..
- Step 7: Use straps to secure the victim's head to the headboard snugly between the head pads.
- Step 8: Grab each end of the backboard; always use an even number of people.
- Step 9: Roll the patient to the ambulance and get them to a hospital as quickly as possible.
