The Rowan story expressed the meaning of values and their importance to me and why family really does matter.
I honestly wouldn't recommend this to a friend because the story can be a little boring at times and the dialogue is hard to understand due to the time the story takes place which correlates to the slang the people use.
I don't think I'd read the book again just because it could be boring at various times. However, it was enjoyable.
Many events take place in radiant places; such as Frankfort, Louisville, Washington and even Baltimore.... but the real story takes place in-and-around Bardstown, KY.
The plot consists of a small family who starts off in the pioneer period until they grow into their first generation on KY soil. The Rowans went from Buckskin cloth, from log cabin to a mansion. In this story each generation basically transforms from rags-to-riches in providing examples of courage, frankness, generosity, individual pride, and family pride.
