Causes
Steven Johnson Syndrome
- Three main causes:
- Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis , or an allergic reaction to some type of drug.
- Bacterial Infection such as AIDS, influenza, mumps, hepatitis, and phenomena.
- Family history can cause increased risk.
History of Steven Johnson Syndrome
- Named after Frank Johnson and Albert Mason Stevens in 1922 when they first published a description of the disease in The American Journal of Diseases for Children.

- Steven Johnson Syndrome is a rare disorder of the skin and mucus membranes that causes your skin burn from the inside out which generates sores and blisters to occur.
- Very rare syndrome, only about 20,000 cases in the US yearly.
- SJS a syndrome because it has no treatment, like a disease, and it is never really traceable to a single cause.
