First Steps: Fulfillment of Requirements
This includes
- Brief medical Exam
- Character Investigation Update
- Resume and other necessary data should be passed to the Applicant processing Division or APD of the New York police Department
- The APD will assess each applicant one by one, doing a complete background check of each applicant as a part of the thorough investigation they are conducting.
Medical Examination
Also requires:
- Document 60 College Credits and a 2.0 GPA or 2 years Military Service
- Initial Character Assessment
- Fingerprinting

- Valid Highschool Diploma or its equivalent

- 17- 35 years old
- Must be at the age of at least 21 at the day of hiring
- Citizen of United States at the time of appointment

- A physical test in the form of a continuous event which should be accomplished within 4:28
