A depressing song can make the listener feel sad, but often depressing songs help the listener get over some of there depression or other issues.

Dopamine is released when music is played, causing the person to feel happy or relaxed.

Music has the ability to drastically change one's emotions and attitude

For intstance, If a slow, relaxing song is played, the listener is more likely to feel relaxed.

If a faster more intense song is played it can give the listener a feeling of excitement and inreased energy

Does music really have the ability to help heal the brain?

Music can help heal the brain in numerous ways such as Melodic intonation therapy. This is used when the left part of the brain controlling speech is damaged. THe therapy has people sing as opposed to talk because music is right brain. Using this therapy patients are able to switch the language control to the right side of the brain.

How Can Music Benefit You?

Music can reduce a person's stress level by decreasing the cortisol levels in the brain.

Music can help a person acheive certain states of excitement or emotion.

Music can effect the heart rate, a slow song decreases and a fast song increases it.
